There is a lack of studies on the development of pressure ulcers in chit dren, especially in neonates. Methods: Thirty professionals participated in the cross-cultural adaptation of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the scale. Fifty neonates of both sexes were assessed between July 2013 and June 2014. Reliability and reproducibility were tested in 20 neonates and construct validity was measured by correlating the Neonatal/Infant Braden Q Scale with the Braden Q Risk Assessment Scale (Braden Q Scale). Discriminant validity was assessed by comparing the scores of neonates with and without ulcers. Results: The scale showed inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.98; P < 0.001) and intrarater reliability (ICC = 0.79; P < 0.001). A strong correlation was found between the Neonatal/Infant Braden Q Scale and Braden Q Scale (r = 0.96; P < 0.001). Conclusion: The cross-culturally adapted Brazilian version of the Neonatal/Infant Braden Q Scale is a reliable instrument, showing face, content and construct validity. This study aims to analyze and interpret the psychic effects on neonatologists in training generated by parents of newborns entering and staying over at neonatal intensive care units. Therefore, I have conducted a study with an approach based on the psychoanalytic theory interlocking with methods employed in qualitative surveys in the health field. Twenty neonatology students or residents from the institutions listed below participated in a single semi-structured interview: Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo; Faculdade Estadual Paulista Campus de Botucatu - Faculdade de Medicina - UNESP; Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo - USP; Universidade Estadual de Campinas - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas - UNICAMP e do Hospital Municipal e Maternidade Escola Dr. Mário de Moraes Altenfelder Silva - Maternidade Escola de Vila Nova Cachoeirinha. Based on readings of the material provided by the residents, and focusing on the sum and substance, whose presence would be significant to my object of analysis (Bardin, 1977; Patton, 1990), I have selected six categories for analysis and interpretation: parents staying over at neonatal intensive care units and its effects on the professional practice of neonatologists; communication of the diagnosis/what parents should know; deadlocks between parents and doctors when diagnosis is being communicated; identification with the parents; communicating the death of a child; and participating in the interview/helplessness and ideals. The interpretation of these categories has provided a framework in understanding the psychic mechanisms surfaced in doctors when relating to the parents of children under treatment. The recurrent theme in the final considerations of this study is the feeling of anguish and pain of residents when providing care and also during training, and the fact they lack psychic anchoring to handle these feelings, which entails a need for proposals and intervention.

Of the 1,349 students, 1,314 (97.4%) answered the questionnaire. Cronbach coefficient was 0.7. The factorial analysis determined four domains: performance of professors, care at delivery room, number of neonates cared and number of classes that explained 18%, 16%, 14% and 9%, respectively of total item variance. The total score was 89.3 ± 7.6% of the maximum. The number of neonates assisted at delivery room was and 4.7 ± 3.3 and pre-test and post-test scores were 5.3 ± 0.9 and 8.8 ± 0.5, respectively. Pearson correlation between total score and post-test score was 0.7 (p = 0.010) . A positive correlation was observed between total score and quality of classes, assistance at the delivery room, performance of the neonatologist in duty and professors, assistance of neonates and hospital with conditions for education. In conclusion, the questionnaire showed adequa-te reliability and validity and student´s satisfaction score was high.

This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with 37 physicians and 20 nurses. The Effort-Reward Imbalance Questionnaire was used. Statistically significant differences were not found among physicians (p>0.05) or nurses from PED and NEO in relation to E and R (p>0.05). No statistically significant differences were found between physicians and nurses in PED in the several studied variables. Comparison between the professionals working in NEO revealed that physicians presented more over-commitment than nurses (p=0.01). The organizational setting of NEO proved to be more demanding for physicians, exacting a greater commitment to their work, while demands presented in both units seemed to be the same for nurses.

Aimed to describe the forms of pain assessment of the newborn used by nurse team and analyze the practice of nursing as pain management of neonates. Data were collected through a semi-structured formulary, from August to September 2008, of 42 nurses working. The analyze was performed using SPSS software using descriptive statistics and correlation test. It was observed that the respondents recognize that the newborn is capable of feeling pain and evaluated by physiological and behavioral changes and that there isn't pain assessment scales standardized in the institutions. For the management, carry out pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions. There is need to train professionals contributing to the assessment and management of pain, promoting of holistic care of the neonate.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Tocando o prematuro: significado para auxiliares e técnicas de enfermagem(Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem, 2011-10-01) Perencin, Carla Caniatto; Ribeiro, Circéa Amália [UNIFESP]; Universidade Nove de Julho; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This study aimed to understand the meaning of touching the premature, in the nursing care, for nursing aides and technicians. The Symbolic Interaction was used as theoretical reference and the Grounded Theory as methodological reference. Data were collected through observation and semi-structured interviews, carried out with three nursing aides and two technicians. Data analysis was carried out until leading to the identification of the conceptual category Enhancing the baby's welfare and care through touch, representing the meaning of touching the premature for the nursing aides and technicians, who consider touch as the basis of caring, recognising it as part of the daily care and performing the action of touching as a way to enhance the baby's welfare.
