The purpose of this study was to hear from oral surgeons working in Sao Paulo, seeking to understand their motivations, dilemmas and expectations in their different sectors of practice (i.e.: public, private, hospitals, etc.). Therefore, a qualitative study was conducted. The oral history methodology was chosen to approach this study and was performed in 12 open interviews with oral surgeons from different professional scenarios and highly diverse specialties. This methodology was carried out in the following steps: interview (electronically recorded), transcription (recordings passed into written form), textualization and transcription (intermediate and final phase of processed text), text review and validation by interviewed candidates. Upon written consent from dentists, the analysis process began, using phenomenology and hermeneutics as the method, combined with immersion and crystallization, which consists of reading and rereading the narratives, until themes and issues arose. As a result, four themes were identified and analyzed: “Dentistry as profession of choice: reasons and motivation”, “workforce and insights on dentistry”, “process of dehumanizing dentistry” and “the importance of meaningful professional experiences”. These themes involve issues that go beyond the narratives and realities of oral surgeons within the most varied contexts. This study bears importance and relevance for dentists, dentistry students, health professionals and other professionals who wish to understand the reality and challenges of modern oral surgeons who find themselves immersed in a dynamic, demanding, innovative and, too often, dehumanizing workforce.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)O Moderno Na Iluminação Elétrica Em Berlim Nos Anos 1920(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2017-12-11) Varolli, Renan De Andrade [UNIFESP]; Baumgarten, Jens Michael [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This thesis analyzes electric lighting in Berlin in 1920’s. The work starts from industrially produced objects for usufruct and circulation among the masses, such as buildings, advertising pieces and films, with the aim of understanding modernity’s features on this metropolis then. In the course of the text, it is approached as well tensions and connections between art and industry, relations that some times accompanied modern, modernism and modernization, correlative concepts of modernity. Having a background of contrasts and contradictions in Germany’s capital during the period of its history known as Weimar Republic (1919-1923), it is attempted to draw how theoretical-historiographic reappraisal of artistics and cultural programs regarded as decadent could be succeeded by technological progress.
