The intent is to reveal how conflicts between the various relationships established in/by the museum are essential to understanding art, art criticism , and modern museum , in the Brazilian modernity . The time frame is established 1947 (foundation of the museum) until 1968 (conclusion of the building edification located at Avenida Paulista and death of Assis Chateaubriand). This choice is made by the complex relations establish between the founder of the museum, its director and the sociopolitical context, between the post World War II and the Military Coup. In this period is also possible to analyze how the press releases produced by MASP eventually became published in full, or large parts, in the press, particularly in specialized columns in art, which leads us to question what was the role of the critic and art criticism in São Paulo - once the collected documentation shows us an idea of MASP in this environment .
