The first volume of the book Life and Labour of the people: East London (1889), organized by Charles Booth, and pamphlets from the Fabian Society (1884-1890) propose reformer readings and reflections on topics concerning the poor people and the workers in the city of London, during the Victorian period. The analysis of these documents will establish a dialogue with a debate on the Public Policies related to the Sanitary Laws during the economic crisis of the end of the Nineteenth Century. Our focus is, by doing this, to position the discourse of each of these groups and verify if the field research done in the region of East End, in London, organized by Charles Booth, was assimilated by the Fabian Society, and, given that this is the case, in what proportion it happened.
