The analysis is based on the narratives of health professionals and patients involved in the integrative and complementary practices of yoga and meditation groups at a Basic Health Unit in the city of São Paulo. This work aims to understand how these practices were instituted within the scope of this UBS and to investigate both the health professionals' point of view about these practices in the Official Health System and that of the patients about the effects of this treatment. If, in the design of established policies by SUS, these practices are complementary, how are they understood by patients and professionals in their practices? Based on this understanding, it is sought to investigate the efficacy of these practices, taking into account the patients 'and professionals' narratives, especially regarding the adherence of practices, in concomitance with the use of allopathic treatment, causing medication reduction, or alleviating the side effects of allopathic treatments, or not prescribing medications in the first instance, being in charge of yoga and meditation practices as a priority resource for anxiety and mild depression. Marcel Mauss's concept of body technique is used as the central axis of the work, to describe this practice as a way of using the body, inscribed in a culture and transmitted to the community as acquired knowledge and practice. It is also important to show the notion of effective practical knowledge because these practices open to holism, wholeness, promote dynamism and bring new perspectives to the Basic Health Unit as a new way of looking at public health.
