    O Patrimônio Congregado:a presença da Igreja Católica nos tombamentos do IPHAN em São Paulo

    This dissertation sought to discuss, through the administrative processes, called in Brazil as “tombamentos”, how the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church - ICAR - participated in the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage - IPHAN - mainly in the State of São Paulo. In order to understand the preservation dynamics of IPHAN, as well as the conflicts and negotiations that involved ICAR, we used both the processes that had the final decision as the listed (tombados), as well as those that did not receive favorable approval from this preservation body. As main goal, we tried to understand how IPHAN dealt with ICAR's “multiple roles”, since the institution, besides owning several assets that went through the overturning process, also owned these assets, and had representatives in the body. Institute technician, helping, in a way, in the delineation of what was preserved in São Paulo.
