    Liberdade e a Heresia do Pecado Social: Ratzinger e Boff (1977 – 1986)

    This research aims to problematize the political dispute and the theological debate about one of the most important characters of contemporary Catholicism, the debate between the Brazilian theologian Leonardo Boff, representative of Liberation Theology and the Popular Church in Latin America, and the German theologian Joseph Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, an important Vatican organ. The question developed is the adaptation that these two theologians, exponents of a way of thinking about the essence and the acting of the Catholic Church in the Contemporary world, made of the concept of Freedom as one of the cornerstones in the formation of an ecclesiastical knowledge opened to social dialogue.
