However, the family context very often encounters obstacles that hinder the involvement of family members, making it fundamental to get closer to the reality of these families in order to improve health services. Thus, the quality of family life seeks a singularity of family relations, in an attempt to get close to the potentialities and fragilities of this context. This article aims to relate the forms of family organization in the processes of early intervention to the quality of family life, from the point of view of a family member. Ten families of ten children ranging in age from zero to three years old participated in this study, with possible or already present development alterations, receiving the services of the Centro Especializado em Reabilitacao II, in the municipality of Santos. Quali-quantitative research was used by means of semi-structured interviews and the application of the Family Quality of Life Scale. Thematic content analysis was utilized for analysis of the interview data and descriptive statistics were employed for the scale data. Within the results, the predominance of female family members was verified, despite their participation in the labour market, as well as low school attendance by the children. It was observed that the family is perceived as an important factor for child development, though with little emphasis on their active participation or on other contexts in this process. There was also an identification of some gaps in public policy regarding the guarantee of access and accompaniment in the early intervention, considering the different realities. In addition, it was verified that the scores of families in the Family Quality of Life Scale approximate those described in other research, with the observation that the greatest satisfaction referred to support regarding disability and the least satisfaction was in the area of emotional well-being. The difficulties faced were shown to be connected not only to material and structural aspects, but also to the possibilities of the organization and satisfaction of the needs of family members. In this context, the presence of support networks, both formal and informal, was shown to linked to the satisfaction with the quality of family life. It is expected that this study can contribute to future research that focuses on the family in process of early intervention.
