    Artrodese lombar intersomática transforaminal: comparação da técnica com autoenserto estruturado e dispositivo em PEEK

    Introduction: Arthrodesis is the surgical induction of joint fusion, used as an alternative for the treatment of patients with degenerative discopathies, spondylolisthesis and segmental instabilities. The indication for lumbar fusion has been increasing since 1990. The use of structured bone graft for intersomatic arthrodesis presents satisfactory postoperative outcomes when compared to PEEK (polyether-ether-ketone polymer) related to pain, and functional capacity. Objective: To Compare postoperative outcomes of the transforaminal intersomatic lumbar arthrodesis with a PEEK device and a structured iliac bone autograft. Method: A chart review of data from 93 patients submitted to transforaminal intersomatic Fusion between January 2012 and July 2016 with at least 1 year of postoperative follow-up with complete medical records, with clinical data and radiological exams. Results: The 48 patients were submitted to the procedure with structured bone iliac autograft (group 1) and 45 with a PEEK device (group 2). There was an improvement in functional capacity in both groups (P < 0.001), however there was no difference when comparing them (P = 0,591). Conclusion: The postoperative clinical and radiological outcomes of lumbar arthrodesis in the TLIF technique, using a PEEK device compared to the structured iliac bone autograft were similar.
