    For years now, there are many medical records softwares commercially available that promise to collect and organize patient data. Despite the global trend and many advantages of the electronic transition, many public universities still rely on paper records, turning accessibility more difficult, storing more expensive and the whole process less secure. The explanation given is generally the investment needed for implementation of a digital system, its low reliability and, sometimes, even inability to use computers. And taking all of this in account, we set out to develop a medical records software that is at the same time low-cost, reliable and easy to use. Right now it is only a concept, but in the future it could be used as a platform for even more advanced features, i.e. a smart dashboard for presenting data collected in a graphical setting for easiness of understanding, decision making and research. Finally, we present actual norms and legislation about electronic records systems and the brazilian digital certification standards. We also leave an analysis about ethics in digital medical records, debating its main problems and solutions. Keywords: digital medical records, health technology, web app.
