    Jovens na pastoral da juventude do Brasil: entre a autonomia e a tradição

    The Catholic Youth Ministry of Brazil was stablished as a laic movement acting upon youth issues. This dissertation analyses the youth model proposed by the Ministry, through the observation of contents, ideologies and methods applied to this formation. This model is labelled ?progressive? by members of the pastoral and corresponds to a young person which held characteristics of an individual in a modern conception, but whose characteristics are formed inside the movement, collectively, through the institutional commandments prescribed by Catholic hierarchy. We highlight the main characteristics aimed for this youth model: autonomy, criticism, social engagement and commitment with the collective.
