In those studies is remarkable not only the construction hand in hand with a elaboration about his presence and performance in the Roman history, but also the accomplishment of a more impressive image of himself. This image is not a posteriori outcome created by third parties who wrote about Caesar and his background, it is Caesar’s product, as illustrated in Commentarii de Bello Gallico (Commentaries on the Gallic War) and Bellum Civile (Civil War). In this two works Caesar seems to elaborate a comprehensive plan of his image along with the senate and Romans using his discursive capability to create a range of ideas and arguments which lead him to the position of Rome and Romans defensor: due to the self-imagem established by Caesar for contemporaries and posterity. The analyses of these two works listed, which were made in the light of contemporary historiographical criticism, allow an aproach of this ideal of himself created by the author. Regarding the documentary corpus delimitation we opt to work with Bellum Civile as the main source. On one hand we seek to identify the discursive mechanisms used by Caesar to built his self-image, whereas to relate it to Caesar’s political interests in Rome through the analysis of his increasing power over his cursus honorum to do so.
