Extensive Bi Above 40% Of The Total Body Surface Area Results In Systemic Responses, Such As Insulin Resistance And Increased Protein Catabolism In Skeletal Muscle. The Administration Of Insulin In The Extensive Bi Aims To Stimulate The Synthesis And To Attenuate The Degradation Of Protein. The Aim Of The Study Was To Evaluate The Effects Of Insulin Treatment After Bi On The Skeletal Muscle Of Young Wistar Rats. The Animals Were Distributed In Four Groups: Control (C) And Submitted To The Scalding Burn Injury (Si), Both Associated Or Not With Daily Insulin Treatment (C+I And Si+I). Each Of These Groups Was Subdivided Into Two (N=08) With Different Periods Of Euthanasia, 4 (Short-Term) And 14 (Long-Term) Days Of Treatment. Blood Glucose, Body Mass And Feed Intake And Water Were Monitored Daily. After 4 And 14 Days Of Injury, Euthanasia Was Performed And The Gastrocnemius Muscle Was Dissected For Morphological, Morphome
