Resumo
Este trabalho de monografia consiste na análise do debate sobre moradia e transporte nos periódicos O Combate e A Plebe durante a greve geral de 1917 em São Paulo. Trata-se de dimensionar os reflexos dessa cobertura dos jornais sobre os trabalhadores e as camadas populares nos embates travados pelo direito à cidade, considerando o contexto de industrialização e urbanização de São Paulo, bem como os conflitos e a crise intensificada pela Primeira Guerra Mundial. O modo como essas reinvindicações aparecem nesses jornais permite examinar a relevância do tema num momento de mobilização mais acirrado da história das lutas dos trabalhadores por direitos. Trata-se de uma investigação relacionada ao mundo do trabalho e às demandas por melhores condições de vida e cidadania no Brasil das primeiras décadas do século XX.
This monograph work consists of an analysis of the debate on housing and transportation in the periodicals O Combate and A Plebe during the 1917 general strike in São Paulo. It is about dimensioning the reflexes of this newspaper coverage on workers and the popular strata in the clashes waged by the right to the city, considering the context of industrialization and urbanization in São Paulo, as well as the conflicts and crisis intensified by the First World War. The way in which these claims appear in these newspapers allows us to examine the relevance of the theme at a moment of more intense mobilization in the history of workers' struggles for rights. It is an investigation related to the world of work and the demands for better living conditions and citizenship in Brazil in the first decades of the 20th century.
