O Quality of Life Questionnaire – Bone Metastase 22 (QLQ-BM22),
European Organization Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), o
com o questionário Medical Outcome Study Questionnaire 36 – Item Short
Form Survey (SF-36).
INTRODUCTION: The advancement of systemic treatment of cancer patients increased the survival of these. However skeletal-related events arising from these are appearing more frequently as bone metastases, that the main clinical signs are pain and disability, which leads to patients with a poor quality of life. The Quality of Life Questionnaire - Bone Metastasis 22 (QLQ-BM22), a specific instrument to assess the quality of life of patients with bone metastasis. It is a 22 items questionnaire, with pain and function domain. OBJECTIVE: To translate into Portuguese, adapt culturally and validate the EORTC QLQ-BM22 to be used in Brazil. METHODS: The translation guide of The European Organization Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) was used to translate to Portuguese and to adapt culturally. After that, we tested the reability and the face, content and construct validities, the last was demonstrated with the correlation with the questionnaire Medical Outcome Study Questionnaire 36 - Item Short Form Survey (SF-36).. The translated version was applied to 80 Brazilian patients with bone metastasis. RESULTS: Internal consistency was determined by calculating Cronbach's alpha (0.935). The reliability was analyzed by Pearson´s correlation, and we observed significant correlation among the interviews (p=<0,001). Construct validity It showed significant correlation between the fields of QLQ-BM22 and the SF36 (p=<0,001). CONCLUSION: The QLQ-BM22 was translated into Brazilian Portuguese, was culturally adapted, proved the reability, face, content and construct validity.
