Introduction: The social worker has a profession with a history of strong assistance, coming from a practical influence of the church, coined in working with the public and workers. One of the main aspects of their academic training is the mandatory practical experience, the so-called "supervised internship curriculum." Considering the scarcity of national publications in this area, we performed the present study, focused on the only Brazilian journal indexed in LILACS on the subject, which is a reference to the professional category. Objective: This study aims to characterize the material published about training graduate-level Supervised Training in Social Work in the journal Social Work and Society in the last five years, in order to subsidize research and support the planning of the undergraduate curricula course in Brazil. Methodology: We privileged the case study of he cited journal in the period 2007 to 2011. All material published in that period was selected according to the relevance to the topic considered and studied through content analysis, according to previous categories and emerging material, proximity of meanings. Results and discussion: In the 20 numbers published in the study period, 216 papers were evaluated and 28 selected for the research, including articles, reviews, newsletters and other modalities. No articles directly related to the stage were identified, despite the validity of the new federal law on stage at graduation and the course curriculum guidelines. However, several issues of a political nature that make references to training and developing skills necessary to practice the profession were found and discussed in the light of relevant literature. Conclusions: The influence and support of the indexing of the journal, along with the significant accumulation of experience and theoretical knowledge, hardly justify the absence of the themes evaluated. The legal requirement of supervised curriculum represents a unique opportunity to stimulate the Editorial Board to publish articles related to graduate training in Social Work and in particular for the supervised internship.
