The aim of the study is to understand the meanings and correlation between Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Yoga and body-mind practices for BJJ athletes. Therefore, a bibliographic research was developed, which subsidized a field research with qualitative approach and descriptive objectives. For this purpose, we contacted athletes who are reference in the researcher´s life trajectory. Semi-structured interviews were conducted based on a script about perceptions and affects of these practices on athletes´ life, health and performance, and the number of respondents was defined by qualitative saturation of the database, whose content was analyzed from non-aprioristic categories. As a result we had two broad categories of analysis that address the correlations between practices as a Medium and as an End. As a means, it was used as a tool for a specific purpose linked to Power (physical and mental strength), Therapy (prevention, cure and adaptation of musculoskeletal injuries and mental disorders) and Consciousness (Internal Technology, control tool and self-regulation). As an end, we see Individuation (authorship, self-knowledge and isolation from the whole) and Integration (body-mind, individual-social, contemplation and transcendence). Finally, this study highlights strong relationships between Yoga and BJJ, whose senses of practices can deepen over time and maturing these relationships. We conclude that there is a tendency towards the initial search for Yoga to perform in sport. But after years of practice development, there is a path to self-knowledge and self-development.
