Resumo
Os resíduos sólidos são os materiais descartados pelas atividades humanas e o seu correto gerenciamento é necessário para que se minimizem impactos adversos ao meio ambiente e à saúde pública. A Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS), instituída em 2 010, estabelece diretrizes de gestão de resíduos para as três esferas de governo, sendo o nível municipal o ambiente em que a política se materializa e também o mais frágil. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar como as obrigações da PNRS dirigidas aos mun icípios brasileiros foram aplicadas no município de Guarujá SP. A metodologia utilizada foi a de análise documental, de acordo com os critérios extraídos da PNRS e organizados em um checklist. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que o município, em sua situa ção atual, está caminhando de acordo com as exigências mínimas estabelecidas pela PNRS, apesar de ainda existirem pontos de melhoramento para a sua efetiva gestão que devem ser implantados no futuro.
Solid waste is material discarded by human activities and its correct management is necessary to minimize adverse impacts on the environment and public health. The National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), instituted in 2010, establishes waste management guidelines for the three spheres of government, with the municipal level being the environment in which the policy materializes and also the most fragile. The objective of this research was to evaluate how the obligations of the PNRS directed to Brazilian municipalities were applied in the municipality of Guarujá SP. The methodology used was document analysis, according to the criteria extracted from the PNRS and organize d in a checklist.
