dc.description.abstractThis research intends to analyze historically the film Crônica de um Industrial (1978), by Luiz Rosemberg Filho. The work was the target of rigorous censorship at a time when this control, in the cinematographic environment, was proving to be less incident. The film brings important discussion about the feeling of political defeat of the left and explicitly dialogues with some current debates in Brazil of the period, which mobilized concepts such as underdevelopment, developmentalism and economic dependence. Allegorical, it deals with the crisis of conscience of an industrialist who, middle-aged and living in the fictional country of San Vicente, remembers his trajectory as a leftist militant and lives the bankruptcy of his business. Our analysis intends to understand how the film dialogues with some theses about the defeat of the left. Identified to the so-called “Brazilian marginal cinema” was partially funded by Embrafilme, a state-owned company. Thus, from the survey and investigation of some historical issues present in the work, and its relationship with society and the debates of the time, we also intend to analyze the tensions involved in the context of their production, seeking to understand their relationship with the discussions. political and economic aspects of the moment, the impact of censorship, the reaction of critics, and the discourse it and the filmmaker itself build upon the work. We start from the hypothesis that this film presents discussion density and breadth of themes relevant to the understanding of that historical moment of the beginning of democratic opening in Brazil.en
dc.description.abstractA presente pesquisa pretende analisar historicamente o filme Crônica de um industrial (1978), de Luiz Rosemberg Filho. A obra foi alvo de rigorosa censura em um momento no qual este controle, no meio cinematográfico, vinha se mostrando menos incidente. O filme traz importante discussão sobre o sentimento de derrota política da esquerda e dialoga explicitamente com alguns debates vigentes no Brasil do período, que mobilizavam conceitos como subdesenvolvimento, desenvolvimentismo e dependência econômica. Alegórico, trata da crise de consciência de um industrial que, na meia-idade e vivendo no país fictício de San Vicente, rememora sua trajetória de militante de esquerda e vive a falência de seus negócios. Nossa análise pretende perceber como o filme dialoga com algumas teses sobre a derrota da esquerda. Identificado ao chamado “cinema marginal brasileiro” foi parcialmente financiado pela Embrafilme, empresa estatal. Desta forma, a partir do levantamento e investigação de algumas questões históricas presentes na obra, e em sua relação com a sociedade e com os debates de época, pretendemos também analisar as tensões envolvidas no contexto de sua produção, procurando entender sua relação com as discussões políticas e econômicas do momento, o impacto da censura, a reação da crítica e o discurso que esta, e o próprio cineasta, constroem sobre a obra. Partimos da hipótese de que esse filme apresenta densidade de discussão e amplitude de temas relevantes para a compreensão daquele momento histórico de início de abertura democrática no Brasil.pt
