Historians and historical work have been the subject of many researches. At the present time, these reflections sometimes seek to encompass the digital world and the new technologies available. Digital humanities appear as a theoretical-methodological place to think about how these new tools can be part of the production of knowledge within the field of humanities, in general, and History, in particular. In this scope, this research project intends, based on the development of the platform Pauliceia 2.0: collaborative mapping of São Paulo’s history (1870-1940), to reflect on the limits and potential of the use of geotechnologies in historians’ work. It is based on the hypothesis that historical GIS, especially, can provide a refined analysis instrument for historical investigations and, with regard to the project in question, for studies of urban history. To this end, through the study of the formation of the Pinheiros neighborhood and the intense urban-industrial transformations experienced at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, the aim is to contribute to the development of the Pauliceia 2.0 platform and stimulate the production of knowledge on urban history. Based on the spatialization of data made possible by the tool, the study of the city in the process of modernization gains complexity when taking into account the spatial dimension, and provides an alternative form of representation from and about space.
