The aim of this monograph is to analyze the intersectionality between gender and race in the American and Brazilian contexts through the critical reflection of bell hooks and Lélia Gonzalez, thus drawing a comparison between the societies presented. I take as my starting point the perception that this intersection occurred in the United States in a context of struggle against racial segregation, while in Brazil it also occurs within debates about the "myth of racial democracy". From this perspective, I also propose to shed light on the feminist movement experienced by black women.
