Introduction: This paper analyzes educational programs that address prejudice according to the assumptions of Contemplative Pedagogy, with the aim of evaluating its scientific evidence and possibilities of implementation in different educational scenarios. Therefore, it was necessary to: 1) identify its design and intervention field; 2) analyze the methodological aspects of the interventions; 3) discuss the scientific evidence of its results. Methodology: the investigation outlined an integrative literature review based on the terms “Contemplative Pedagogy” and “Prejudice”. The research focused on the following bases: LILACS, SCIELO, PubMed and MEDLINE. Results: Eight works were selected (202 were excluded) and, after reading and classifying the data by internal coherence, two categories of approach in relation to prejudice were empirically chosen: 1) Behavioral Approach and; 2) Epistemological approach. Analysis and Discussions: It was observed that the studies showed positive associations between the adoption of contemplative practices and the reduction of implicit views and prejudices in relation to different objects of aversion: people, cultures and knowledge. It is discussed the Behavioral proposal would act by promoting a relaxation of the tensions that produce emotional barriers that prevent the observation of the object of prejudice, while the Epistemological Approach would have a deconstructive nature due to the loosening of the automatisms that condition the implicit biases. Both approaches defend that the cognitive content is insufficient to face prejudice and point to embodiment as a potent way to become aware of the implicit biases existing in the prejudiced attitude. Conclusion: It is concluded that such studies are limited and do not allow further generalizations, but point to emerging strategies to complement the debate and actions on social issues in the field of education.

    Mindfulness e Tomada de Decisão
(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2020) Bicalho, Sandra Meneses [UNIFESP]; Wilson, David [UNIFESP];; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)
Introduction: An emerging area in Cognitive Psychology has investigated modern interventions, such as Mindfulness, which could improve the neural and cognitive mechanisms of the executive functions and therefore apply them to improve the ability of decision-making. This Integrative Revision gathers available studies about the theme Mindfulness and Decision-making. Objective: The objective of the present study was to gather scientific and academic works about the effects of Mindfulness in the decision making and convert dispersed information in evidenced knowledge to verify if and how Mindfulness can improve the competence of human decision in several contexts (individual, social, parental, clinic and economic), compiling the existing neuroscientific evidence about it. Methods: This is an integrative descriptive review, with the research strategy to find records in which both the English terms Mindfulness and Decision-making were present simultaneously. Results: The results suggest that Mindfulness: (i) improves, specifically, the ability to evaluate the possibilities of action and its consequences (value assessment), one of the facets of decision making; (ii) increases neural synchronicity between the frontal and pariental regions of the brain; (iii) contributes to pro-social decision making, showing increased activation of the left septal region of the brain, linked to the social; (iv) improves the ability to make decisions in stressful situations and in contexts where emotional regulation and self-efficacy are required. Conclusion: All of these results illuminate an important possibility of clinically and socially sustaining Mindfulness to positively impact the ability of decision-making.

Understanding how mindfulness can influence romantic relationships can contribute to the global spread of the practice. Objective: to this end, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and the mechanisms behind the increase in the perception of quality in romantic relationships. Methodology: an integrative literature review was performed using the descriptors Mindfulness, Relationships and Couples in Pubmed and Lilacs databases. Results: 11 studies were found that met the inclusion criteria. The main mechanisms identified by this study were: Increased empathy; Better response to stress; Capacity for greater emotional management; Increased sexual satisfaction and less judgment of intentions. Conclusion: the need for research to further investigate these mechanisms is emphasized, using more robust methodologies that consider interviews, which can generate more robust data to validate relational health. Research involving a larger number of mature couples who have undergone formal mindfulness training would be recommended.

The present study aimed at a short mapping by means of an integrative Review about what has been produced on the possible benefits recognized by couples that are taking part on the Interventions Based on Mindfulness-IBMs. The PUBMED, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System on-line (Medline) and INDEXPSI databases were used. The search consists of available articles from January 2009 to December 2019. In the initial search 65 articles were obtained, however at the end, for a proper analysis of the proposed questions, in the total of 14 articles remained. Although the results appear to be promising, seeing that researches have shown greater states of Mindfulness awareness associated with the improvement of affective quality of couples' loving relationships, studies that use trained instructors and better methodological thoroughness are necessary.
