Resumo
A Universidade/Comunidade Amiga da Demência (CAD) é uma estratégia que se encontra dentro do Plano Nacional de Demência, apontado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) como necessária como resposta ao crescente número de casos da condição. No Brasil não há um Plano Nacional de Demência. A implementação desta estratégia busca sensibilizar a população para que pessoas com demência e seus cuidadores tenham apoio para exercer seu pleno potencial. O presente estudo foi realizado buscando compreender o processo de implementação da Universidade/Comunidade Amiga da Demência em Bangor, Reino Unido, buscando traçar a partir das experiências lá vividas um guia adequado à realidade brasileira. Metodologia Foram realizadas 5 entrevistas com profissionais envolvidos na implementação da Universidade/Comunidade Amiga da Demência em Bangor. As entrevistas foram gravadas e transcritas. As falas foram analisadas por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo de Bardin (1977/2000). Também foi feita análise quantitativa dos dados coletados. Resultados e discussão A participação de pessoas com demência e seus cuidadores na construção da Universidade/Comunidade Amiga da Demência é vista como imprescindível, assim como o bem estar de cuidadores familiares é colocado como prioridade. Dentre as atividades promovidas se destacaram as sessões de Amigos da Demência, buscando levar informações sobre a demência para a população em geral, e atividades intergeracionais. Das habilidades socioemocionais interessantes para membros do grupo condutor apontadas, destacaram-se conexões com organizações locais e a disponibilidade de tempo. As maiores dificuldades apontadas foram relacionadas ao estigma, a falta de estímulo para capacitação profissional e a manutenção do grupo condutor. Considerações finais A partir da experiência europeia de profissionais do País de Gales é possível, juntamente com outros levantamentos locais, traçar o caminho para a implementação da Universidade/Comunidade Amiga da Demência no Brasil.
The Dementia Friendly Community (DFC) is a strategy that is part of the National Dementia Plan, pointed out by the World Health Organization (WHO) as necessary in response to the growing number of cases of the condition. In Brazil there is no National Dementia Plan. The implementation of this strategy focuses on raising the awareness of the population so that people with dementia and their caregivers have support to exercise their full potential. The present study was carried out seeking to understand the implementation process of the University/Community Friendly to Dementia in Bangor, United Kingdom, seeking to elaborate from the experiences lived there an adequate guide to the Brazilian reality. Methodology Five interviews were conducted with professionals involved in implementing the Dementia Friendly University/Community in Bangor. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The speeches were analyzed using Bardin's content analysis technique (1977/2000). Quantitative analysis of the collected data was also performed. Results and discussion The contribution from people with dementia and their caregivers in building the Dementia Friendly University/Community is seen as essential, as well as the well-being of family caregivers is placed as a priority. Among the promoted activities, the Friends of Dementia sessions stood out, bringing information about dementia to the general population, and intergenerational activities. Of the interesting socio-emotional skills for members of the driving group pointed out, connections with local organizations and availability of time stood out. The biggest difficulties pointed out were related to stigma and lack of encouragement for professional training. Final considerations Based on the European experience of professionals in Wales, it is possible, with other local surveys, to open the path for the implementation of the Dementia Friendly University/Community in Brazil.
