Um estudo sobre a idade do universo

Abstract

O presente trabalho foca em uma breve análise de como a cultura ocidental europeia tratou o tema “A idade do Universo”. Aqui a palavra Universo se refere a tudo que é tangı́vel ao ser humano e pode ser descrito pela faculdade da Ciência, especialmente aquela desenvolvida a partir da Gravitação Newtoniana até as décadas atuais com a Relatividade Geral. Esta breve análise trará também uma curta perspectiva histórica, uma vez que antes do desenvolvimento do conhecimento cientı́fico-analı́tico estruturado cabia às mais diferentes mitologias explicar quando e como seu universo conhecido surgiu, seja pela ação de um único deus criador supremo ou por um trabalho em equipe de divindades com objetivos conflitantes. Focando apenas em nossa cultura ocidental e em como esta desenvolveu seus paradigmas sobre o funcionamento do mundo que a cerca.

In the present work we focus on a brief analysis of how Western European culture treated the theme \The age of the Universe", and here the word Universe refers to everything that is tangible to the human being and can be described by the faculty of Science, especially that developed from Newtonian Gravitation to the current decades with General Relativity. This brief analysis will also bring a short historical perspective, since before the development of structured scienti c-analytical knowledge, it was up to the most di erent Mythologies to explain when and how your known universe came into being, whether through the action of a single supreme creator god or a teamwork of deities with con icting goals. We will focus only on our western culture and how it has developed its paradigms about the workings of the world around it.
