RUÍNAS URBANAS, MEMÓRIA E REPARAÇÃO: Rastros da arquitetura e vida em territórios em desmanche, o caso do Edifício São Vito

Abstract

O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar de forma crítica a trajetória social e arquitetônica da ruína “em vida”, ou arruinamento urbano e de como instituições políticas e culturais lidam com o acontecimento. A partir da narrativa a contrapelo da história do edifício São Vito, evidenciar a história dos rejeitados, do massacre diário da população marginalizada, do descaso e do estado de exceção. Identificar a imaterialidade do arruinamento na imaterialidade da ruína demolida, representada pelo Edifício São Vito e Mercúrio e pela trajetória de seus moradores. Esvaziamento, desapropriação, estigmatização, interesses econômicos e políticos, promessas não cumpridas, violência gratuita e preconceito marcaram a história do edifício ruína e seus moradores. Para além dos registros históricos e artísticos da história a contrapelo que encontram na memória plasticidade de narrativas, interessa-nos entender através de quais meios e porque essas histórias devem ser contadas. Qual o intuito da visibilidade das contranarrativas? Ao sublinhar as camadas obscuras inerentes aos processos perversos de poder, aos processos de progresso higienista, temos o compromisso de narrar a história de forma não romântica. O compromisso inicial e contínuo desta pesquisa: ver a ruína dentro de uma abordagem não romântica, mas sim pensada como matéria em movimento e história do tempo em ação.

The objective of this research is to critically analyze the social and architectural trajectory of the ruin “in life”, or urban decay and how political and cultural institutions deal with the event. From the against the grain narrative of the history of the São Vito building, highlight the history of the rejected, from the daily massacre of the marginalized population, to the neglect and the state of exception. What is the purpose of the visibility of counter-narratives? By underlining the dark layers inherent in the perverse processes of power, in the processes of hygienist progress, we are committed to narrating the story in an unromantic way. The initial and continuing commitment of this research: to see ruin within a non-romantic approach, but thought of as matter in motion and history of time in action.
