Matemática como ato político: as intenções do discurso

Abstract

Dadas as implicações da matemática ao longo da história humana, sua construção no currículo escolar e seu impacto na esfera política, associa-se a influência dessa ciência com esses três elementos às desigualdades sociais. Desta forma, orientados pelo pensamento crítico difundido nos trabalhos de Ole Skovsmose, esta pesquisa traz reflexões a fim de explorar as relações entre matemática-sociedade, matemática-política e matemática-escola. Posteriormente, são analisados projetos sustentados nestes fundamentos, assim como metodologias comumente utilizadas para o desenvolvimento de uma competência crítica. Por fim, propõe-se atividades para o Ensino Fundamental 2 orientadas nas reflexões da educação matemática crítica como suporte para professores interessados no tema.

Given the implications of math during human history, its construction on scholar curriculum and the impact on the political sphere, it’s possible to relate the influence of this science along with these three elements with social inequality. Guided by the critical thinking diffused by Ole Skovsmose, this paper brings reflections in order to explore the relations between math-society, math-politics and math-school. With the purpose of understanding the application of this theory, projects using the fundaments of critical math education were analyzed, as its methodologies. In conclusion, we proposed two activities for the middle year, guided by the reflections in order to assist teachers who have interests on this theme.
