World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref (WHOQoL-Bref).
Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of overweight compared to normal weight pregnant women. Methods: Cross-sectional study with women in their second and third trimesters of pregnancy, receiving antenatal care at São Paulo Federal University - São Paulo Medical School (UNIFESP-EPM). The quality of life was evaluated with the World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref questionnaire (WHOQoL-Bref). Specific questionnaires were used to evaluate sleep quality (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index-PSQI), depressive symptoms (Beck Depression Inventory- BDI) and sexual function (Female Sexual Function Index-FSFI). Chi Square and t Tests were used to compare differences between the groups. P <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Socio-demographic characteristics were similar between the groups. Overweight and normal weight women had similar quality of life scores and prevalence of depressive symptoms in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Overweight women had poorer sleep quality in the sleep latency and subjective sleep domains in the second trimester, as well as higher sleep disturbance scores in the last trimester, and their quality of life social relationship domain and sexual function were more compromised in the third trimester. Conclusions: Overweight women in the third trimester of pregnancy had worse quality of life than normal weight women of similar gestational age.
