The authors studied 58 children suffering from acute pharyngotonsillitis. The subjects were divided at random in two groups, one receiving nimesulide oral suspension (5 mg/kg/body weight daily) and the other 1 drop (0,5 mg) of diclofenac resinate, for kg body weight t.i.d. All patients were also given 30 mg/kg amoxycillin daily for 7 consecutive days. The group treated with nimesulide showed results significantly better regarding therapeutic efficacy already at 2nd day of treatment. With regard to tolerability, side effects ocurred in a higher number of patients treated diclofenaco (27,6%) than in the nimesulide group (13,8%).
