There are evident modifications of the mammary tissue according to the phase of the menstrual cycle. The morphological and ultrastructural modifications. and proliferative activity indicate that the stimulus of the mammary lobule is more intense during the luteal phase of the normal cycle and may probably be sue to a synergistic action between progesterone and estradiol. Oral contraceptive use does not appear to affect proliferative activity.
