Abstract Conductive hybrid coatings are an alternative for the production of multifunctional coatings, enabling wide application in industry for metal surface finishing. Recently, the use of pre-treatments using the sol-gel process has become an attractive area of study, due to its high efficacy against corrosion, low cost and easy application. Among the conducting polymers used as corrosion inhibitors there is polyaniline. the method of mixing in solution is based in the solubility of PAni in solvents with counter-ions used to dope it. the redoped state of PAni with functionalized organic acids improves its thermal stability and processability. in this work, the aim is to synthesize and characterize a solution of precursor sol-gel P(MMA-MSMA)-TEOS, poly (methyl methacrylate co-3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate) and tetraethyl orthosilicate with the introduction of PAni solution in sol-gel. To evaluate the corrosion resistance of conductive hybrids, electrochemical techniques of open circuit potential with time, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization curves were used.
