A simple, sensitive, and selective method for the analysis of fluoxetine in plasma samples is described in this study. Stir bar sorptive extraction combined with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry has been successfully used in this procedure. Plasma samples were first submitted to protein precipitation with trichloroacetic acid, subjected to SBSE, and thereafter analyzed by LC-MS. the method presented specificity, linearity over the concentration range of 10-500 ng mL(-1), precision, and adequate sensitivity for the determination of fluoxetine in plasma.
