Objective: verifying if the BPT with HSS 4.5% allows to detect gradient of reply in children and adolescents with asthma, the according to intensity. Method: a transversal study was carried through, with 75 patients with ages between 6 and 18 years, with asthma, classified for the intensity (intermittent associated the persistent mild [IM] and persistent moderate associated serious [MS]) and according to sensitization presence the aeroallergens (cutaneous tests of immediate hypersensitivity: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, D. farinae and Blomia tropicalis) or not (atopics x not atopics). All patients underwent a BPT with HSS 4.5% (considering positive reduction FEV1 ≥20%). Results: 60 individuals were atopics, the frequency of positivity of the TBP were bigger in group MG that in the IL (93% versus 65%), the necessary time for fall of 20% of the FEV1 was lesser for MG when compared with the IL [90 (30 a 330) vs 210 (30 a 690) segundos, p< 0,05], the percentage of fall of the FEV1 it was accented in subgroup MG that in the IL IL [26,4% (14%-63%) vs 20% (0%-60%), p< 0,05]. Conclusions: The BPT with HSS 4.5% of easy accomplishment. It allowed detecting gradient of reply in children and adolescents with asthma, according to intensity. Bigger frequency of positivity and faster fall of the FEV1 was observed in the patients with moderate or serious asthma.
