- ItemSomente MetadadadosHabitação de recuperação: padrões de trabalho, abuso de substâncias e situação de habitação após seis meses(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2020-09-14) Bosso, Rogerio Adriano [UNIFESP]; Araujo, Marcelo Ribeiro De [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São PauloThe consumption of psychoactive substances is associated with countless types of physical and psychological damage, especially among those with high social vulnerability. In such context, housing programs are an opportunity to provide integrated care to people exposed to social determinants of health. A longitudinal survey with a group of residents (n=164) from a sixmonth recovery house was designed to investigate the results considering substance use, employment and home status. The mean length of stay was 144 days (SD=76.8); the majority were working for at least 4 consecutive months (n=96;58.5%); 74.4% received therapeutic discharge and more than half of them returned to a stable standard of residence. In multivariate analysis, alcohol use was independently associated with working currently status [OR] = 2.29 [95% CI:1.00-5.20]; p=0.048). In the multinomial logistic regression model, with treatment time as reference, having a working currently (p=0.010; 95%CI 8.74-62.37) and previous history of non-alcohol use (p=0.021; 95%CI -71.59--5.83) were both associated with staying in recovery housing. Housing services have a potential to provide effective support for the recovery of substance use. The findings of this study point to the need to develop policies for transformation and integration of health and social care strategies.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Inserção social e habitação: um caminho para a avaliação da situação de moradia de portadores de transtorno mental grave no Brasil(UNESP, 2010-06-01) Furtado, Juarez Pereira [UNIFESP]; Nakamura, Eunice [UNIFESP]; Generoso, Cláudia Maria; Guerra, Andréa Máris Campos; Campos, Florianita Coelho Braga [UNIFESP]; Tugny, Augustin De; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais; Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Faculdade de Psicologia; Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Escola de Belas ArtesWith regard to housing needs, people with severe mental disorders in Brazil have two possibilities: therapeutic residential services or alternative forms of service such as family support and/or support from the mental health services, particularly from psychosocial support centers. It seems fundamental to evaluate how people with severe mental disorders establish their living space (habitus) and their social integration during these experiences, starting from the structural elements of housing (shelter, privacy, safety and comfort) and the support elements (social network and health services), along with the follow-up provided by health services, within a context of deinstitutionalization. For this, some principles, analysis categories and possible contributions for a qualitative and interdisciplinary evaluative investigation method are discussed. This method was developed by researchers from different knowledge areas (anthropology, architecture, psychoanalysis and public health), in order to provide a more systematic approach towards this important topic.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosMeasures for food and housing in comparative perspective: venezuela and brazil(Elsevier Science Bv, 2016) Mattioda, Henrique Saint'Clair [UNIFESP]; de Souza, Luciana Rosa [UNIFESP]Comparative studies on anti-poverty programs enrich the design and evaluation of these actions. Venezuela and Brazil are implementing good anti-poverty practices in Latin America. The objective of this paper is to analyze food and housing programs in both countries and to try to know which of these two designs have more potential to emancipate poverty. Regarding food programs 'Mision Mercal' (Mercal Mission) is been executed in Venezuela, which is compared with 'Bolsa Familia' (Family Bag) in Brazil. As for housing programs it studies 'Gran Mision Viviendas' (Great Housing Mission) in Venezuela, in contrast with 'Minha Casa, Minha Vida' (My house, my life) from Brazil. In the theoretical and methodological field, this paper uses the concepts of training, degrees and functionalities from Amartya Sen to compare these food and housing programs. The text is divided into three sections: the first deals with Sen's analytical categories the second historically contextualizes the social programs in both countries and the third part, analyzes and compares these food and housing programs. The study concludes that there are important differences between the programs that were carried in Venezuela and Brazil because evidence can be shown that the Bolivarian socialism promotes practices that encourage the transfer of products that generate income.

The basic needs provision seems to be a convergence point between different ideological conceptions.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosSaúde mental e moradia: as relações que permeiam os espaços sob a ótica dos usuários dos CAPS de Santos/SP(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2020-06-26) Stracini, Marina Mara [UNIFESP]; Moreira, Maria Inês Badaró [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São PauloOn the basis of the transformations occurred in the way of caring in mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation, this research aims to illustrate the housing situation as one of the permeable dimensions of individuals’ lives, which refers to the legitimacy of social relations, within the perspective of the individuals with intense mental suffering (CAPS III) in the municipality of Santos/SP. The research aims to perceive the significance of housing from the point of view of these population and to show awareness of how they appropriate their homes, as well, considering the relations which permeate the space in which they live. The present study favours the qualitative research in order to explore the social reality and the dynamism of individuals, drawing on the technique of Thematic Content Analysis for analysis on the evidence gathered trhough semi-structured interviews. The present research has been developed with 10 users, 2 users from each of the five branches of CAPS situated in Santos/Sao Paulo. Besides the characterization of the territory, the profile of these participants has been also pointed out. The analysis of the data collected was divided into three categories: Conception of Housing, Ways of Inhabiting, Appropriation of Space, and relations with the environment. This study identified how the conception of housing is related to protection, individuality, and affective memories, which contribute to one’s self construction. Although the ways of inhabiting might be varied, they are alike in several important aspects. The modes of space appropriation and relations reveal that life in freedom allows people under deep psychic suffering to rearrange and construct themselves according to the daily experiences (which demand some skill levels) essential to one’s expression of autonomy and citizenship in a perspective of life self management. However, these relations are marked by a strong ambivalence. As they provide exchanges, affection and encounters, they also highlight fragilities when people are limited to only some spaces, services, and specific individuals, not feeling they are part of a whole that flows around the city in its vast dynamics. Therefore it is concluded that even when care in freedom is available, it seems there are still some gaps that make an effective participation in the social field difficult.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Os setores médios e a urbanização de São Paulo: Vila Mariana, 1890-1914(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2015-12-15) Carvalho, Clara Cristina Valentin Anaya de [UNIFESP]; Atique, Fernando [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This dissertation deals with the participation of the middle class in the urbanization of Sao Paulo, focusing the Vila Mariana neighborhood. The period of study starts in the late 19th Century - when there was a reorganization in social, economic, political and cultural aspects of the Brazilian society, driven by the Proclamation of the Republic, that made possible the expansion of urban strata and middle classes, - and the early 20th Century, when there was the decrease in construction activity, caused by the effects of World War I. Thus, we investigated the building activity in the locality, understood as one in which the promotion of housing, both for own use as well as for rent, contributed to the occupation of the place, the densification of the streets and the territorial expansion of the city in its southern vector. Thus, we investigated how, historically, is it possible to understand the constitution and the procedural transformation of the neighborhood?s physiognomy. Vila Mariana becomes a privileged space, too, for understanding the action of members of these middle classes in São Paulo, whose faces are still unknown in historiography of the city.
