- ItemSomente MetadadadosDevelopment of nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems with olive vegetable oil for cutaneous application(Assoc Brasileira Psiquiatria, 2016) Monteiro e Silva, Silas Arandas [UNIFESP]; Lacerda, Risia; Bernegossi, Jessica; Chorilli, Marlus; Leonardi, Gislaine Ricci [UNIFESP]Liquid-Crystalline Systems represent active compounds delivery systems that may be able to overcome the physical barrier of the skin, especially represented by the stratum corneum. To obtain these systems, aqueous and oily components are used with surfactants. Of the different association structures in such systems, the liquid-crystalline offer numerous advantages to a topical product. This manuscript presents the development of liquid-crystalline systems consisting, in which the oil component is olive oil, its rheological characterizations, and the location of liquid crystals in its phase map. Cytotoxic effects were evaluated using J-774 mouse macrophages as the cellular model. A phase diagram to mix three components with different proportions was constructed. Two liquid crystalline areas were found with olive oil in different regions in the ternary diagram with two nonionic surfactants, called SLC1 (S1) and SLC2 (S2). These systems showed lamellar liquid crystals that remained stable during the entire analysis time. The systems were also characterized rheologically with pseudoplastic behavior without thixotropy. The texture and bioadhesion assays showed that formulations were similar statistically (p < 0.05), indicating that the increased amount of water in S2 did not interfere with the bioadhesive properties of the systems. In vitro cytotoxic assays showed that formulations did not present cytotoxicity. Olive oil-based systems may be a promising platform for skin delivery of drugs.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosJanus emulsions of bixa orellana oil(Taylor & francis inc, 2016) Leonardi, Gislaine Ricci; Silva, Marina Martines [UNIFESP]; Guimaraes, Carina Moreira [UNIFESP]; Perrechil, Fabiana de Assis [UNIFESP]; Friberg, StigJanus emulsions of the oil from the Bixa orellana (BO) nut, silicone oil (SO), and an aqueous solution of Tween 80 were prepared by intense mixing and optical microscopy images were obtained of the drops. The results showed the expected disordered emulsion of large SO drops with a number of attached smaller drops of the vegetable oil, whose images were transformed to regular Janus drops by the shear, when the cover glass was applied. The drops with a large BO/SO volume ratio did not immediately form well-defined and topologically equal Janus drops due to kinetic factors. The microscopy image was used to evaluate the correct angles and radii by a mathematical rotation to form an image with a straight-line contact line.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosPolítica Baseada Em Evidências(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2017-05-23) Simoyama, Felipe De Oliveira [UNIFESP]; Bueno, Ricardo Luiz Pereira [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)A large number of studies have been published on the so-called evidence-based policy (EBP), however, some significant gaps remain open in the area, such as: who should be responsible for research integrity, how to assess the quality of evidence, and how should decisions be made. Moreover, in spite of the large number of recommendations for EBP implementation, it lacks empirical evidence to validate these arguments, i.e. a demonstration that policies, as currently formulated, do not work. Also, despite such recommendations, it is not known whether, in fact, evidences are not used by policymakers. This research presents three essays on EBP with the main objective of filling some of the gaps noticed in literature, and also contributing to the advancement of EBP by setting forth its importance in different aspects of public policy. The first essay is a systematic literature review based on the PRISMA protocol, it focuses on conceptual studies and includes the most used methods and the main barriers faced by EBP. The second essay presents an analysis of a set of systematic reviews of public policies carried out by Campbell Collaboration over a period of five years, with the main objective of verifying the effectiveness of public policies in several areas. Results indicate that less than half of public policies work, and it demonstrates the importance of the use of evidence in public policies, especially in the formulation and evaluation stages. The third essay is an analysis of public policies of Brazilian municipal capitals, amounting to 180 documents. Its main objective was to verify the rate of use of evidence in public policies in these cities. Results indicate that evidences do not play an important role in the process of policy formulation in the main Brazilian cities, not even those considered of less scientific value. Essentially, this study presents several opportunities for the advancement of EBP both practically and theoretically, by pointing out its importance for the improvement of public policy process, especially when confronted with the failures noted in the method currently used by policy formulators.
