- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Administration of the Autism Behavior Checklist: agreement between parents and professionals' observations in two intervention contexts(Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria - ABP, 2008-09-01) Marteleto, Márcia Regina Fumagalli [UNIFESP]; Menezes, Camila Gioconda de Lima E [UNIFESP]; Tamanaha, Ana Carina [UNIFESP]; Chiari, Brasilia Maria [UNIFESP]; Perissinoto, Jacy [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)OBJECTIVE: To determine the agreement between responses on the Autism Behavior Checklist by mothers and healthcare professionals. METHOD: Twenty-three mothers of children from the autism spectrum (DSM-IV-TR, 2002) were interviewed. The children were part of an educational program of the Autistic Friends Association-SP. The healthcare professionals in charge of the children at the institution filled out a questionnaire regarding the method for observing behavior. For comparison purposes, an additional 15 mothers of children from the autism spectrum were interviewed at the speech therapy clinic of Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), and the speech therapists responsible for the children filled out the questionnaire on the observation method. The Kappa index was employed to obtain the frequency of agreement between mothers and healthcare professionals' observations on the overall Autism Behavior Checklist, as well as its individual components. The Student's t-test was used to assess differences or similarities between the Kappa results. RESULTS: The agreement index was low for the total score, with a statistically significant difference between both groups (p < 0.001). Agreement was also low for each Autism Behavior Checklist components, but there was greater agreement in the group treated at the public service in the Language, Body and Use of Objects components (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: There was disagreement between the observations in both intervention contexts, but agreement was better at the public service than at Autistic Friends Association.

Otherwise, for this purpose, it is necessary that the authors choose the adequate and available headings. Our research goal is to explore two brazilian vascular medical journals from the headings included in MEDLINE and LILACS documents and determine how well the authors were using the medical subject headings. The Medline and Lilacs database were searched from published 1996 to 2000 and queried with the list of DeCs 2001(MeSH Portuguese version) and MeSH 1994. We describe here that about 186 articles were reviewed, in two journals of the speciality and found that most of them were out of the standard terms suggested by the MeSH. We concluded, despite the indexation must be a dynamic performance, the authors must be better informed about the rules of inclusion of new headings and how to apply the adequate key words.

To develop and evaluate a training program on intrafamilial violence against children and adolescents for community health workers and nurses from the Family Health Program (FHP). Methods: The training program was applied to all FHP teams (n=7) from Embu city-São Paulo State and two FHP teams from Fortaleza city-Ceará State. Fifty-nine professionals (50 community health workers, eight nursing assistants and one nurse) were trained in Embu, and 37 professionals (30 community health workers and seven nurses) were trained in Fortaleza. Professionals were trained in groups (20 participants per group in average), being three groups from Embu and two from Fortaleza. The training program included 27 hours, divided in nine workshop sections (three-hour weekly meetings) conducted by a pair of trained instructors, based on the steps described in the training manual. The evaluation of knowledge acquisition and change in attitudes was based on case reports by participants obtained in three points in time (T0 - before training, T1 - one week after training, and T2 - three months after training). The evaluation followed three thematic axes: (1) case identification, (2) gathering of resources for notification, and (3) gathering of resources for the follow-up of families. Results: In total, 71 cases of intrafamilial violence against children and adolescents were reported by participants, but 22 of them did not report any cases. Resistance to report cases was observed among some professionals, and identification was restricted to severe cases. Regarding the ability of gathering resources for notification and follow-up of children/adolescents victims of intrafamilial violence, it was possible to identify three different professional profiles: (1) those who initially report cases with referral to the Tutorial Council, but were not intending to follow them up; (2) those who report cases without mentioning decisions taken and are inclined to notify, but do not seem inclined to follow the families up; (3) those who initially report cases without mentioning decisions taken and remain reluctant about the notification, but are inclined to follow-up cases they might identify in the future. Conclusion: Professionals that have better absorbed the content from the training program steps were those who spontaneously reported cases from their daily experience, revealing to be already sensitized and prepared to deal with the thematic of violence. Because each professional profile requires a different approach from the training program, it must be tailored to the needs of participants in order to be effective.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Eficácia do emprego do espelho de Glatzel na avaliação da permeabilidade nasal(Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia, 2009-01-01) Bassi, Iara Barreto; Franco, Letícia Paiva; Motta, Andréa Rodrigues [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Faculdade de Medicina Departamento de Medicina Preventiva e Social; Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Departamento de Oftalmologia e Otorrinolaringologia; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Departamento de FonoaudiologiaPURPOSE: To compare the measurement of nasal air escape, carried out using the Glatzel mirror, in children with and without upper respiratory tract obstruction, according to sex and age. METHODS: The sample comprised 43 subjects, with mean age of 6.9 years, divided into four groups: children with surgical indication to clearing of the upper respiratory tract (surgical group), allergic children with upper respiratory tract obstruction (allergic group), allergic children with obstruction and surgical indication (surgical and allergic group), and children without obstruction (control group). Nasal air escape measurement was carried out using the Altmann's Millimetered Nasal Mirror, and data was measured in cm² by the AutoCAD 2002 software. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypotheses testing, with a significance level of 5%. RESULTS: The control group presented the highest mean (6.53 cm²) of nasal air escape, while surgical and allergic group presented the lowest mean (3.07 cm²). The means of the allergic group and the surgical group were 4.74 cm² and 5.91 cm², respectively. Only the surgical and allergic group presented statistically significant difference compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: The Glatzel mirror demonstrated not to be a trustworthy instrument for the evaluation of nasal permeability in the analyzed sample, except in cases of severe nasal obstruction, that is, allergic patients with surgical indication. No correlations were found with the variables sex and age.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Erros de base fonológica na escrita: codificação de surdas e sonoras, segmentação e juntura vocabular(Academia Brasileira de Audiologia, 2014-09-01) Arnaut, Mirian Aratangy; Hackerott, Maria Mercedes Saraiva; Bueno, Gabriela Juliane; Nepomuceno, Pablo Felício; Ávila, Clara Regina Brandão de [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Paulista Departamento de Publicidade e PropagandaPurposeThe present study investigated the characteristics of phonological information processing as manifested in the writing of dictated syntagmas, capable of indicating possible correlations and the predictive impact between the analyzed orthography errors (coding of voiced and voiceless phonemes, undue segmentation and word junction) according to the school system. MethodEighty children from both genders, aged between 6 and 11 years, were selected from those regularly enrolled between the 2nd and 5th years of primary education, in both public and private schools in the municipality of São Paulo. The participants wrote, as dictated to them, 34 noun syntagmas composed of high frequency words. ResultThe three types of error were correlated with one another according to different patterns in each school system. In the public schools, voice-voiceless coding errors and undue segmentations were positively correlated. Perception characteristics directed to the metric foot and the syllable might have influenced the children’s performance. As for the results in private schools, the perception of the phonological word, phonological phrase and intonational phrase might have influenced the correlations between errors of the voiced-voiceless type and junctions. ConclusionVoiced-voiceless coding errors, word junction and undue separation manifested differently between private and public schools, regarding writing performance. Only in private schools could the voiced-voiceless coding errors predict those of word junction and hypersegmentation.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosEvaluation studies of software testing research in Brazil and in the world: A survey of two premier software engineering conferences(Elsevier B.V., 2013-04-01) Lazzarini Lemos, Otavio Augusto [UNIFESP]; Ferrari, Fabiano Cutigi; Eler, Marcelo Medeiros; Maldonado, Jose Carlos; Masiero, Paulo Cesar; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar); Universidade de São Paulo (USP)This paper reports on a historical perspective of the evaluation studies present in software testing research published in the Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES) in comparison to the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE). the survey characterizes the software testing-related papers published in the 25-year history of SBES, investigates the types of evaluation presented in these publications, and how the rate of evaluations has evolved over the years. A similar analysis within the same period is made for ICSE, allowing for a comparison between the national and international scenario. Results show that the rate of papers that present evaluation studies in SBES has significantly increased over the years. However, among the papers that described some kind of evaluation, only around 20% performed more rigorous evaluations (i.e. case studies, quasi experiments, or controlled experiments). Such percentage is low when compared to ICSE, which presented 40% of papers with more rigorous evaluations within the same period. Nevertheless, we noticed that both venues still lack the publication of research reporting controlled experiments: only a single paper in each conference presented this type of evaluation. - ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Identificação de casos psiquiátricos em estudos epidemiológicos multifásicos: métodos, problemas e aplicabilidade(Faculdade de Saúde Pública da Universidade de São Paulo, 2000-10-01) Andreoli, Sergio Baxter [UNIFESP]; Almeida Filho, Naomar de; Coutinho, Evandro Sf; Mari, Jair de Jesus [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal da Bahia Instituto de Saúde Coletiva; Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública Departamento de EpidemiologiaOBJECTIVE: To discuss methodological aspects of the two stages in the identification of psychiatric cases in epidemiological studies. METHODS: Analyze the methodology used in the Multicentric Psychiatric Morbidity Study, which was conducted in three Brazilian cities (São Paulo, Brasília and Porto Alegre). In the first stage of that study, a random sample (6,740 individuals) of the population was drawn and all the participants were screened with the Questionnaire of Psychiatric Morbidity of the Adult (QMPA). In the second stage, a sample (775 individuals) of this population was drawn and these individuals were submitted to the Inventory of Symptoms of DSM-III, carried out by psychiatrists and trained psychologists. RESULTS: The study procedure for estimating the prevalence is described in details, showing that though the screening scales are a weak tool, they don't interfere with the methodology. CONCLUSION: The advantage of this methodology is to correct any distortions caused by the current tools used in the identification of psychiatric cases.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Investigação experimental da utilidade da medicação no pós-operatório em cirurgia refrativa(Conselho Brasileiro de Oftalmologia, 2005-04-01) Wahab, Sâmia Ali; Moreira, Hamilton [UNIFESP]; Buquera, Michele; Moreira, Luciane; Daros, Alessandra Castelano; Oliveira, Cínara Sakuma De; Instituto de Pesquisas Médicas; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal do Paraná; Faculdade Evangélica do Paraná; Hospital de Olhos do ParanáPURPOSE: To harvest microorganisms from the microkeratome after LASIK. To induce experimental infectious keratitis and investigate the use of routine postoperative medication. METHODS: During eight consecutive days, we cultured the plate of the microkeratome after routine LASIK. Dilutions of the most frequent microorganism was prepared according to the MacFarland scale. Ten microliters were injected into both corneas of eight guinea pigs. The right cornea was used as control and the left cornea was treated with 0.3% ciprofloxacin associated with dexamethasone and ketorolac tromethamine every 4 hours for 24 hours (group 2). The animals were sacrificed and the corneas were divided into two halves, which were sent to analyzed by the microbiology and histopathology laboratory. RESULTS: In the control group, Staphylococcus aureus could be retrieved from all corneas, while in group 2, only 50% showed positive cultures (p=0.0128). Histopathology concerning polymorphonuclear cells showed an intense degree of inflammation in group 1 (p=0.0203) and regarding monomorphonuclear cells, it was also more intense in group 1 (p=0.0051). CONCLUSION: This study suggests that the use of wide-spectrum antibiotic associated with anti-inflammatory eye drops has a significant effect on the reduction of a potential infectious and inflammatory process after refractive surgery.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Melancholia in Latin American studies: a distinct mood disorder for the ICD-11(Assoc Brasileira Psiquiatria, 2011-05-01) Juruena, Mario Francisco Pereira [UNIFESP]; Calil, Helena Maria [UNIFESP]; Fleck, Marcelo Pio de Almeida; Del Porto, Jose Alberto [UNIFESP]; Universidade de São Paulo (USP); Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Univ Fed Rio Grande Sul UFRGSObjective: Melancholic depression is a lifetime diagnosis, typically with recurrent episodes. Melancholia, a syndrome with a long history and distinctive psychopathological features, is differentiated from major depression by the DSM-IV specifiers and partly described in the International Classification of Diseases - 10(th) edition. Within the present classification, it is frequently seen in severely ill patients with major depression and bipolar disorder. Nevertheless, it has a distinctive psychopathology and biological homogeneity in clinical experience and laboratory test markers, and it is differentially responsive to specific treatment interventions according to international studies. The objective of this study is to review the literature published by Latin American authors about Melancholia. Method: We conducted a systematic search to identify scientific literature published by Latin American authors gathering information relevant to the revision of the classification of mental and behavioral disorders in patients with melancholic depression of the International Classification of Diseases - 10(th) edition. The review was specifically focused on literature from Brazil and Latin America in order to examine the specific Latin American contribution for the study of melancholia as a distinct entity. Results and Conclusion: Melancholia can be identified as a separate mood disorder with unique psychopathology and psychoneuroendocrinology, worthy of separate attention in the classification systems. We therefore suggest that melancholia be positioned as a distinct, identifiable mood disorder that requires specific treatment.
