    Deslocados ambientais e as limitações das normas internacionais de proteção frente às mudanças climáticas

    This article seeks to analyze how international standards for refugee protection are insufficient for environmentally displaced individuals, identifying the existing gaps in this protection. The study examines the inadequacy of current international standards in addressing the situation of these individuals due to the uniqueness of their needs, which differ from general refugee situations. The hypothesis contends that international standards for refugee protection fail to effectively address the situation of eco-migrants, hindering the protection and assurance of their rights, especially given the growing number of displacements caused by climate change. We will analyze relevant international instruments and IO reports, focusing on the case of Tuvalu. Contributing to the understanding of challenges and the need for tailored policies, as a result, it proposes recommendations and alternatives to enhance international standards and provide more adequate protection, discussing the need for updating protection standards to address the impacts of climate change.
