- ItemSomente MetadadadosBreast-Q©: expectativas de pacientes com câncer de mama quanto à reconstrução mamária(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2020-11-10) Amaro, Luciana Chamone [UNIFESP]; Veiga, Daniela Francescato [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São PauloIntroduction: Breast reconstruction is currently part of the comprehensive treatment of breast cancer, and many studies have demonstrated its beneficial effects on the quality of life and body image of patients. Patients’ expectations regarding breast appearance, pain and recovery are important factors related to breast reconstruction. Objective: To evaluate Brazilian patients’ expectations regarding breast reconstruction. Method: Clinical, observational, cross-sectional, descriptive, uncontrolled, multicenter study. The sample calculation resulted in 123 patients. Women diagnosed with breast cancer, candidates for immediate or delayed breast reconstruction after mastectomy, with surgery already scheduled were included. To assess expectations, an instrument validated for use in Brazil, the BREAST-Q © module “Expectations with breast reconstruction”, was used, which was preoperatively applied. Results: 123 patients were included, with an average age of 48.1 years. The majority (65%) underwent delayed breast reconstruction, and the most prevalent type of reconstruction was with implants (65.9%). The highest expectations were related to Coping (mean ± standard deviation: 95 ± 14.9) and Appearance (mean ± standard deviation: 90.7 ± 18.5). Associations were found between some aspects of expectations and chemotherapy, reconstruction technique, education level, skin color and age. Conclusion: The expectations with breast reconstruction of the studied population are high, especially in relation to Coping and Appearance. Adjuvant treatments and different reconstruction techniques can influence expectations.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosQualidade do serviço de reconstrução mamária de um hospital universitário(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2020-11-10) Oliveira, Carlos Eduardo De [UNIFESP]; Veiga, Daniela Francescato [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São PauloIntroduction: Assessing the perception of patients about the treatment received is essential to identify opportunities for improving the services provided, and patient satisfaction must be a fundamental element to guide health organizations. Breast cancer is highly prevalent in the world, and breast reconstruction is currently considered an integral part of the treatment of this disease. Objective: To evaluate the quality of the Breast Reconstruction Service of a university hospital, from the patients perspective. Method: Cross-sectional and observational study, carried out with patients undergoing breast reconstruction in a university hospital over a period of 12 months. The Health Services Quality Scale (EQSS) was applied, which produces a general score, expressed in a scale from 0 to 10, and also scores for dimensions that evaluate the quality of the service. The hospital management team considered grade 8 as a minimum satisfactory for the Service. Results: 90 patients were interviewed, who gave the Service an overall score of 9.33. The dimension with the best score was "Team Qualification", with a score of 9.94 followed by "Result of surgery" with 9.86. In addition to the dimension “Support” (note 7.22), which was the only one with a score below the minimum satisfactory, the dimensions that received the lowest scores were “Environment” (8.80), “Aesthetics and functionality” (8.77), “Relationship” (8.74) and “Punctuality” (8.23). Conclusion: The quality of the breast reconstruction service is satisfactory, from the patients’ point of view, however it needs structural improvements, interpersonal relationships and mainly a support network for patients.
