Starting from the conception that ethnicity is a colonial ideological creation, I intend to demonstrate how those who call themselves Fulas relate to each other, as well the differences that mark their several segments. The idea of ethnicity remained in the imagination of local societies, even after the colonial period, and during the war of independence of Guinea-Bissau the concept of ethnicity was instrumentalized with political purposes, leading the Fulas to be represented in a stereotyped way towards other peoples. In addition to the description of the ethnography carried out in the city of Pitche, in the region of Gabu, eastern Guinea-Bissau, I will present data from the anthropological literature about the Fulas from other regions of the African continent to help in understand some elements that permeate the social organization of the Fulas of Gabu. Thus, I will try to demonstrate how elements considered to form a “fulanity” such as the Islamic religion, language or the code of moral conduct of this group vary according to the historical period or the location where the research was carried out.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)A família como ordem simbólica(Instituto de Psicologia da Universidade de São Paulo, 2004-01-01) Sarti, Cynthia Andersen [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This text is concerned with questions about working with families, and with young people in the family in particular. It is based on a conception of family as a symbolic reality, which is framed by a story told to the individuals along their lifetime. This story is reaffirmed and re-signified in different moments and places of family life, considering its relation to the external world. In face of diverse social and cultural references, family analysis demands a not always easy act of distancing oneself of one's own references, especially because we tend to confuse family with our family. The text, then, emphasizes the importance of listening to the family narratives from another point of view, different from the professional's or the researcher's, but fundamental and equally legitimate in the elaboration of the experiences lived by families in some kind of situation of vulnerability.

During this period, intensified political and economic relations between China and Brazil, as well as the increasing migration of Chinese to our country. The Chinese have played characters commonly found in large Brazilian urban centers, becoming part of the scenery "multiethnic" the city of São Paulo in particular. By focusing the analysis on one of the privileged spaces of sociability and socialization of new generations in our society, such as school, it is possible to understand how the interaction takes place between Chinese and Brazilian students immersed in a specific environment: the one traditional religious school in the city of São Paulo. Thus, it is possible that understand the meanings of cultural relations between Brazilian and Chinese, especially the concepts of education and how they form the linguistic and religious differences in this area of interethnic relations. Through qualitative methods and strategies of research techniques such as field observation and semi-structured interviews with students and other school personnel will observe the discourse employed by the college for investment and maintenance of more than fifty percent of Chinese students, the possible relations of religious power, the figure of the priest and Chinese competitiveness and forms of cooperation among students.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosUma "possibilidade impossível de dizer": o acontecimento em filosofia e em literatura, segundo Jacques Derrida(Unesp-Marilia, 2012-01-01) Fontes Filho, Osvaldo [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This paper takes account of the impossible possibility of saying the event, a fertile notion in Derrida's last writings. The possibility of the impossible is an expression borrowed from Heidegger's concept of Ereignis. It is related to an aporetic ethics concerned about responsibility in facing the inappropriability of events. In some of Derrida's most famous possible-impossible aporias - justice rebellious to rule, the ghost of the undecidable in every event of decision, invention that always presupposes some illegality - an ethics of alterity puts forward a critique of the unitary self, a subjectivity under the underivable interpellation coming from events. The relevance of the otherness to understanding any decision solicits the law of the singular event, a promise of originality. However, the incalculable uniqueness and exceptionality of each event implies for Derrida a promise of a monolingual community, with its suspending or bracketing of dissemination acts. In the face of the reserves of the undecidable of fiction, that promise of uniqueness seems obviously impossible. This article aims, therefore, to estimate the deconstructive fertility of the relationship between testimony and fiction in literature, a moment in Derrida's thought in which the categories of truth break down, thus revealing literature as the other of philosophy.

The central character of this vision was an evangelical missionary from the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL), or in the perspective of the Matsés, her mythical figure developed among the Brazilian communities. Ever since her initial contact in 1969, the relationship between the missionary and the people has developed unwanted interpretations, culminating in the mystification of his own figure and causing her to be feared as an architect of death and misfortune. The possibilities for anthropological analysis of this phenomenon are numerous and lead to different ramifications, when not conflicting. Presented here is a historical-anthropological analysis of the symbolic construction process of Siyude (Miss), the central character of this story, from considerations of authors working in this perspective as Marshall Sahlins, Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, Cristina Pompa and Paula Montero, among others. The empirical material consists of the memory as well as events and narratives, digitally archived by a also a missionary, now, a training anthropologist proposes a re-examination of the phenomenon seeking the Indian way of understanding otherness, his cosmological translation, in this case of the religious figure of an evangelical mission, articulating historical and linguistic factors of context.
