- ItemSomente MetadadadosBanding pattern of A and B chromosomes of Prochilodus lineatus (Characiformes, Prochilodontidae), with comments on B chromosomes evolution(Springer, 2006-05-01) Artoni, Roberto Ferreira; Vicari, Marcelo Ricardo; Endler, Alexandra Lidiane; Cavallaro, Zelia Isabel; Maria de Jesus, Celia; Cristina de Almeida, Mara; Moreira-Filho, Orlando; Bertollo, Antonio Carlos; Univ Estadual Ponta Grossa; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)B chromosomes in Prochilodus lineatus, a migratory neotropical fish, were analyzed in a comparative study among populations from the Dourada lagoon (State of Parana Brazil) and from Mogi-Guacu river (State of São Paulo, Brazil). the data on C-banding and fluorescent in situ hybridization with a satellite DNA probe (SATH1), indicate that the small metacentric B chromosome might correspond to an isochromosome. On the other hand, both populations presented a distinct set of B chromosomes, differentiated either by their number and by the presence of variant B types in the population from Mogi-Guacu river. the present results indicate that the B chromosomes of P. lineatus should have an ancient origin, and have undergone a differential evolutionary pathway among distinct populations.

N.; Brunoni, Decio; Chauffaille, Maria de Lourdes; Verreschi, Ieda Therezinha do Nascimento [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Fleury Ctr Diagnost MedWe report on a girl who, despite her 45,X/46,X,der(Y) karyotype, showed no signs of virilization or physical signs of the Ullrich-Turner syndrome (UTS), except for a reduced growth rate. After prophylactic gonadectomy due to the risk of developing gonadoblastoma, the gonads and peripheral blood samples were analyzed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect Y-specific sequences. These analyses allowed Lis to characterize the Y-derived chromosome as being an isodicentric Yp chromosorne (idic(Yp)) and showed a pronounced difference in the distribution of the 45,X/46,X,idic(Yp) mosaicism between the two analyzed tissues. It was shown that, although in peripheral blood almost all cells (97.5%) belonged to the idic(Yp) line with a duplicated SRY gene, this did not determine any degree of male sexual differentiation in the patient, as in the gonads the predominant cell line was 45,X (60%).
