Epidemiological studies showed racial inequalities and their impact on health. The remedy found by SES-SP was to formulate and implement a policy to ensure attention to the black population health, being the policy inserted into the State Health Plan, Annual Operating Plans, Terms of Commitment and Management Report. The paper reports the strategies, challenges and mistakes and suggests alternatives for those managers concerned about proposing actions for reduction of racial inequities in health.
