- ItemSomente MetadadadosA data mining system for providing analytical information on brain tumors to public health decision makers(Elsevier B.V., 2013-03-01) Santos, R. S.; Malheiros, S. M. F. [UNIFESP]; Cavalheiro, S. [UNIFESP]; Parente de Oliveira, J. M.; Aeronaut Inst Technol; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Compuminer Data Min & BICancer is the leading cause of death in economically developed countries and the second leading cause of death in developing countries. Malignant brain neoplasms are among the most devastating and incurable forms of cancer, and their treatment may be excessively complex and costly. Public health decision makers require significant amounts of analytical information to manage public treatment programs for these patients. Data mining, a technology that is used to produce analytically useful information, has been employed successfully with medical data. However, the large-scale adoption of this technique has been limited thus far because it is difficult to use, especially for non-expert users. One way to facilitate data mining by non-expert users is to automate the process. Our aim is to present an automated data mining system that allows public health decision makers to access analytical information regarding brain tumors. the emphasis in this study is the use of ontology in an automated data mining process. the non-experts who tried the system obtained useful information about the treatment of brain tumors. These results suggest that future work should be conducted in this area. (c) 2012 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Eficiência e eficácia do desempenho da enfermagem em procedimentos técnicos(Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem, 2008-02-01) Munhoz, Sarah [UNIFESP]; Ramos, Laís Helena [UNIFESP]; Cunha, Isabel Cristina Kowal Olm [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)This was a non-experimental inter-relational retrospective study that aimed at providing performance indicators for nurses in their decision-making process in team work management. The sample was constituted by 56 ICU in-patient records during the ten first days of admission, measuring efficiency and efficacy of nursing team with relation to technical procedures along nursing work shifts. Results demonstrated efficiency to be as an operational performance indicator, pointing significant variations of amount different of zero in all nursing shifts and variation of value in afternoon shift. In relation to efficacy it is not possible to affirm inefficacy of procedures. It was conclude that the definition of a continuous flow of information allows the managers to handle consistent data in the establishment of a protocol for actions control.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Factor analysis for the adoption of nuclear technology in diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases(Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein, 2012-03-01) Sato, Renato Cesar [UNIFESP]; Zouain, Désirée Moraes; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e NuclearesOBJECTIVE: To identify and evaluate latent variables (variables that are not directly observed) for adopting and using nuclear technologies in diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases. The measurement and management of these latent factors are important for healthcare due to complexities of the sector. METHODS: An exploratory factor analysis study was conducted among 52 physicians practicing in the areas of Cardiology, Neurology and Oncology in the State of São Paulo who agreed to participate in the study between 2009 and 2010. Data were collected using an attitude measurement questionnaire, and analyzed according to the principal component method with Varimax rotation. RESULTS: The component matrix after factor rotation showed three elucidative groups arranged according to demand for nuclear technology: clinical factors, structural factors, and technological factors. Clinical factors included questionnaire answers referring to medical history, previous interventions, complexity and chronicity of the disease. Structural factors included patient age, physician's practice area, and payment ability. Technological factors included prospective growth in the use of nuclear technology and availability of services. CONCLUSIONS: The clinical factors group dimension identified in the study included patient history, prior interventions, and complexity and chronicity of the disease. This dimension is the main motivator for adopting nuclear technology in diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Gerenciamento de doenças utilizando séries temporais com o modelo ARIMA(Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein, 2013-03-01) Sato, Renato Cesar [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)The evaluation of infectious and noninfectious disease management can be done through the use of a time series analysis. In this study, we expect to measure the results and prevent intervention effects on the disease. Clinical studies have benefited from the use of these techniques, particularly for the wide applicability of the ARIMA model. This study briefly presents the process of using the ARIMA model. This analytical tool offers a great contribution for researchers and healthcare managers in the evaluation of healthcare interventions in specific populations.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Health technology assessment in Brazil: what do healthcare system players think about it?(Associação Paulista de Medicina - APM, 2011-01-01) Ferraz, Marcos Bosi [UNIFESP]; Soárez, Patricia Coelho de; Zucchi, Paola [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade de São Paulo (USP)CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES: The health technology assessment (HTA) process has been developed locally. The aim of this study was to describe, analyze and compare the opinions of participants in international health economics symposia about the HTA process used in Brazil. DESIGN AND SETTING: Observational cross-sectional study at the 2006 and 2008 International Health Economics Symposia, in São Paulo. METHODS: A structured questionnaire was applied. For the statistical analysis, the percentage distribution for each category was calculated, and variables were compared using tests for two-sample proportion hypotheses. RESULTS: Totals of 153 and 74 participants answered the 2006 and 2008 surveys, respectively. The response rate was better for the 2006 survey (67.1%) than for the 2008 survey (31.8%). Most interviewees were between the ages of 30 and 49 years and were managers in the healthcare system. Most of them considered that the current HTA process was incomplete and unable to meet the needs of the healthcare system. They mentioned the government, academia and experts as the three main groups of people who should be involved in the process, and selected efficiency/effectiveness, safety and disease relevance as the three main criteria to be considered in the HTA process. There is a trend towards developing decentralized regionalized HTA processes, with separate assessment and decision-making for the public and private systems. CONCLUSIONS: The HTA concept is well known. Healthcare system players feel that the process has methodological limitations. Additional surveys are needed to track the HTA process and its application in Brazil.

Through of bibliographical study research in the period understood between 1990 and 2004. This study reviewed on customer's satisfaction, where had been identified to concepts and publications that approached the perception of the customer as important factor in the evaluation of the nursing assistance. Thus, concluding, that customer has important paper in the attainment of the resulted real of the offered assistance, therefore characterizes as source of opinions and suggestions assisting in the process of evaluation.
